Software Engineer
First professional coding role. Wrote firmware to control train signals on London Underground and built banking database systems for a major High Street bank — before most people knew what the internet was.
Select Software Tools
Software Engineer
Built C++ tools to automatically generate Java code from the Select Enterprise CASE tool — and to reverse-engineer Java back into it. Early days of language interop, before the frameworks existed to do it for you.

Lecturer in Computer Studies
Lectured 100+ students in software development, architecture, QA and delivery. Created C++ examination papers for the MEI institute in Dubai. Introduced OO programming, web design and back-end systems to the next generation.

Started as a developer and rose to lead a team of 30–35 across development and QA, covering Cable (HTML, JavaScript), Satellite (ANSI C) and server-side (Java, .NET, XML). Delivered 40+ passes on the Sky platform against the stringent SSSL test process and was Tech Lead/Architect on the launch of a multi-application satellite service.

Owned the roadmap, delivery and release of the MEDIAFREEDOM media asset management system, then moved into client-facing roles targeting £1m a year in revenue. Clients included HBO CE, the London Olympic Games Committee 2012 and Everton FC.

Clients include Manchester City FC, Liverpool FC, Brit Awards, David Bowie Foundation, Coke Cola, NBA, NHL and NFL teams. Raised investment, registered IP and trademarks, won Innovate UK grant.

Founder — Acquisition & Growth
Created Nice Group as a holding company to acquire and scale digital businesses across the South West. Completed four acquisitions: weheartdigital, WebSelect, Bright Spark Digital, and PLPR. Also acquired Daneswood with intent to rescue — after six months of trying everything, it was too debt-laden to save and was placed into administration. Every one taught something different about business, people, and what resilience actually means.

Acquired WebSelect as the eCommerce specialist anchor of Nice Group. The business had a platform for managing eCom websites — we grew it significantly, onboarding clients faster and improving the platform to drive EBITDA. At peak, WebSelect managed £200M+ in annual payments from clients across the UK. My role was effectively CTO — driving all product development.
